Remembrance Sunday is on November 12th this year and there will be Remembrance Services across the country.
Wherever you are on Saturday 11th at 11am, the nation will pause and millions of people will stop what they are doing for ‘The Two Minutes Silence’ in memory of those who have been lost in all conflicts. Remembrance Day has been commemorated since 1919 and for the last few years has had a particular significance as we consider The Great War of 1914-18.
The Royal British Legion works with local Councils to ensure the opportunity to remember those who have given their lives in the service of our nation and for our freedom. On Remembrance Sunday The Two Minutes Silence forms an important part of every Remembrance Service, it is our chance to honour the fallen. The Service at Queensbury Cenotaph begins at 10.55am, the Service at Thornton is at 11am at the War Memorial and others will be detailed in our local press. Please come along to your local Remembrance Service, and if you can, encourage the younger generation to be with you. When we see “Lest we Forget” written across the wreaths, it is very much for them too.
Till next time.
